This is most definitely NOT your run-of-the-mill blues collection--it touches all the bases for anyone new to this amazing art form and is chock full of enough surprises and rarities to please even the most jaded aficionado. Nearly perfect!

By all means, get this CD! This is the best 2-disc compilation of the blues I've yet come across. It has enough blues classics (i.e. Dust My Broom by Elmore James; The Thrill is Gone by B.B. King; Born Under a Bad Sign by Albert King, etc., etc., etc.) to satisfy a casual blues lover. But it also has great, more esoteric cuts for a true blues afficionado (i.e., John's Blues by Roy Buchanan, Mean Town Blues by Johnny Winter, On my Knees by Son Seals, etc., etc.). Unlike most compilations, there's only one song per artist, so you get 32 songs by 32 great blues musicians. I would've chosen to add a few not included (Big Walter?, Little Milton? Lowell Fulsom?), but I can't quibble. This is a great jump blues collection and my kids (who didn't even think they liked the blues) have been dancing since I brought it home. A++
